Apuseni Natural Park, located in the central-eastern part of the Apuseni Mountains, a conservation area that includes in its 76 hectares a great variety of landforms – mountain peaks, steep cliffs, gorges, valleys, dolines, hills, clints, sinkholes, and numerous caves – as well as an overwhelming diversity of plant and animal species populating its vast forests, grasslands, and meadows. The park incorporates several natural reserves, such as the Scarisoara Cave, the Karst Complex of the Ponor Valley, the Pietrele Galbenei geological reserve, the Cave of the Living Fire Iceberg, the Lost World Karst Plateau, the Cave of the Ogres of Onceasa, and many other landmarks of similarly poetic names.
