From May to September, every day at noon, Fridays and Saturdays also at 9pm, tourists and inhabitants may witness the “Changing of the Guard” ceremony; you can watch troops from the city’s Austrian Empire’s infantry, cavalry and artillery divisions in their traditional military costumes.

Make sure that you find yourself a comfortable place to watch the ceremony; it takes place nearby the 3rd and 4th Citadel Gates, two of the largest and most imposing of the citadel’s seven gates (if you can’t find the place, ask for the ‘Obelisc’, which is located right in front of the 3rd gate). On Saturdays, the ceremony also takes place at 9pm and on the show, cannons are fired.

On Fridays, visitors get a special treat: starting at 7pm you can watch reenactments of the battles between the Roman Empire soldiers and the native Dacians, an amazing 90′ show that brings history alive right before your eyes. The evening ends with a 9pm “Changing of the Guard” ceremony.
